Preventing Healthcare-Associated Infections.

In Unit 7, you will produce a group project based upon your assigned topic located. Please review the current literature and provide an article that relates to your assigned topic. In this thread, please discuss how this article will be beneficial to your assigned topic.

Your assigned topic is “Preventing Healthcare-Associated Infections.

One full-page excluding title and reference page. Use APA style with in-text citation and two references.

The Evidence-Based Practice Change group project is the final of the three Required Uniform Assignments in this course and is due in this unit. It builds upon and utilizes information gathered and reported in the first two assignments. The purpose of this assignment is twofold:

  • To provide a solution to a clinical problem using the EBP process, and
  • To demonstrate presentation skills for a group of peers.

From your experience as a professional nurse, give one example of the selected leadership theory or style as seen in action or provide an exemplary example.

The ongoing changes in the health-care landscape are influenced most by globalization, economic and technological factors, and the aging of the population. The complexity of the healthcare environment requires us to examine the leadership needs for the APN roles that are applicable for today and the future (Joel, 2018). In chapter 21 (Leadership for APNs: If Not Now, Then When?) the author outlines serval leadership theories or styles including:

Situational or Contingency Leadership;
Servant Leadership;
Transformational or Transactional Leardershp;
Rational Leadership;
Clinical Leadership and Congruent Leadership.
Select one of the above leadership theories or style.

Using your own words define the theory.
Considering the various APN roles (Clinician, Educator, Researcher, Administrator, Entrepreneur, Consultant, and Leader) describe how you might use the leadership theory in your future APN role.
From your experience as a professional nurse, give one example of the selected leadership theory or style as seen in action or provide an exemplary example.

Locate an article that describes a situation that included a nursing theory within the discussion.  Summarize the article describing how the theory was used.

Locate an article that describes a situation that included a nursing theory within the discussion.  Summarize the article describing how the theory was used and the contributions the theory provided for this particular patient situation, focusing on the role of an advanced practice nurse (APN). An example is an article that describes caring practice with end of life care to a dying patient. Be creative with the nursing theory you choose and not just Jean Watson’s Caring Theory.  (You do not have to stay within the past 5 years for the article).

Create a PowerPoint outlining strategies you can incorporate in the assisted living facility to promote ego integrity for your residents.

Imagine you are working as a charge nurse in an assisted living facility. Your unit houses twenty older adults. The residents of this unit are cognitively functional without evidence of cognitive decline. The residents are elderly and do require varying degrees of physical assistance with ADLs. Create a PowerPoint outlining strategies you can incorporate in the assisted living facility to promote ego integrity for your residents. What group and individual activities can you incorporate?

Discuss how you would approach nutrition, exercise and/or stress management counseling.

1) Minimum 3 full pages  ( Part 1: 1 page; part 2: 1 page; part 3: 1 page- Total3 pages)

5) Identify your answer with the numbers, according to the three parts of this question.

_______________________________________________________________

Part 1 EBP:

1) Discuss how you used the three components inherent to Evidence-Based Practice inquiry to direct your clinical question database search.

My PICOT question is ‘will off springs of diabetic patients (P), undergoing thiazolidinedione therapy (I), benefit by not becoming diabetic (O) later in life (T)?’

Three components:

1) the best external evidence

2) individual practitioner’s clinical expertise

3) patients’ preference

Part 2: Epidemiology

Case:

You have a client from a vulnerable population, such as an economically disadvantaged and older adult, who needs to begin lifestyle changes with nutrition, exercise and stress management modifications.

1) Discuss how you would approach nutrition, exercise and/or stress management counseling.

2) Address food aid programs that would be appropriate for referral.

3) What exercise recommendations would be appropriate for your client/s.

4) Comment on stress management factors that may need addressed with your choice of the vulnerable population.

Part 3

Create a journal entry  reflecting on your personal experiences or thoughts regarding  Complementary and Alternative therapies.

How can organizational and individual cultural assessments affect the plan of care?

A family who requests privacy five times during the day to pray wants to have a sign on the door during their prayer time. The wife of the patient appears untrusting about the organization’s ability to provide the accommodation. The patient is a 45-year-old Muslim man who had a heart attack and is in the step-down telemetry room.

How should the nurse respond in this situation? How should the organization respond? How can organizational and individual cultural assessments affect the plan of care?

Your initial post must include a minimum of 300 words and include proper grammar, punctuation, and reference(s).

Critically evaluate the range of new evidence provided by petitioners in or after 2008 to support safety claims for the non-nutritive sweetener stevia.

Safety Assessments For SteviaNon-nutritive sweeteners (NNS) have been suggested for use in connection with improving oral health, diabetes care, general reductions in caloric intake, and as anti-hypertensive agents etc.Over the years, many NNS (e.g. cyclamate, aspartame) have also been associated with public concern over safety. Sugar substitutes, low calorie sweeteners or NNS are defined as chemical additives that give a sweet taste to foods without contributing significant calories or promoting tooth decay. The first NNS were introduced in late nineteenth century (saccharine). Most NNS exhibit 100-200 times the sweetening action shown by sucrose.Seven NNS are now approved for use in the US and many other jurisdictions1. Within the EU, you will find 15 NNS designated as the “900 series”, i.e. food additives with E-numbers between 950 and 967. The overall aim of this assignment is to apply the principles of toxicology to risks and safety issues related to sweeteners. For this case study we use the sweetener, stevia.Task:Critically evaluate the range of new evidence provided by petitioners in or after 2008 to support safety claims for the non-nutritive sweetener stevia. In your answer consider the following points:History of useTechnical data and product specifications )Biological data related to ADMEToxicological data related setting ADIPre 2008 objections to safety petitions
