Nursing leadership management Delegation

  • Tom Joserine, a nurse manager of a 36-bed orthopedic unit, has decided that he is too busy to complete all the work that needs to be done. Nurse Joserine has recently read an article on delegation and has decided that delegating tasks to others is an excellent way to accomplish the mound of work that he has to complete. He believes that there are two tasks that take most of his time, disciplinary problems and quality improvement activities. Nurse Joserine calls the nursing coordinator, Janet Jeleen, into the office and informs her that she will now be responsible for all evaluations and handling of incident reports. Nurse Jeleen tells him that she will need some guidance on this new activity. Nurse Joserine informs her that the hospital has managerial classes in which she can enroll to help her with this new duty.

Nurse Joserine also calls Jo Ellen Mae, a clinical nurse specialist for the orthopedic unit, and informs her that she will now be responsible and accountable for the quality improvement activities on the unit. Monthly reports are due on the 10th of each month. He informs Nurse Mae that if she has any questions, she can call the head of the quality improvement committee. When Nurse Joserine leaves the hospital that day, he feels good that he has decreased his workload and happy that he found the article on delegation.

    1. 1. Did Nurse Joserine delegate tasks appropriately? Why or why not? (PLEASE INCLUDE THE 5 STEPS OF DELEGATION)
  • 2. Who will be held accountable for the outcomes of the roles/tasks that Nurse Joserine has delegated?

Please answer all assignments using font size 10. Points will be taken off if not done. Thanks

Philosophy: The three acts of the mind and My Major International business

Guidelines for the Short Final Paper:

Content:  The content of the paper will center on the three acts of the mind.

Subject Matter:  Considering your major ( International Business), or a contemplated major, relate the three acts of the mind to either 1) the process of learning your major, or, 2) how you will use the principles you have learned in your major in performing the duties of your job on a daily basis

Evaluation:  This instructor expects that the writing done in this course will meet certain standards.  Students will incorporate Standard English usage, punctuation, grammar, and the like.  Do not use slang terms or the “Urban Dictionary.”  No text or IM abbreviations are to be used whatsoever.

I will look for The Three Acts of the Mind – Simple Apprehension, Judgment, and Reasoning to be used, and used correctly.  If they are not, appropriate deductions will be made.

The applicable sections of the Writing Intensive Course grading rubric will be used for the final paper.  This rubric follows.

Length:  The paper must have at least 2 pages minimum, and not more than 3 pages maximum of body text.   Word-process the paper in Times New Roman Font, which will produce 21 – 22 lines of body text per page.  This means that there must be from 40 to 44 lines minimum to 60 to 66 lines maximum of body text in the paper.

Format:  This paper must be double-spaced throughout.  If there are blank lines, they will not count toward meeting the length requirement.  I will count lines if the paper appears to be short!  You can use APA or MLA to document your sources.  Sources should include Kreeft’s Socratic Logic, and at least one other outside source.  Students may quote and cite Professor Porter’s handouts for a second source.

Writing Intensive Courses Grading Rubric:  Faculty will use both sections of the rubric when grading at least one writing assignment within their course.  Faculty determines available points for the Course Content section and the categories to be used.  This section’s points are to total 60.  Points are already determined for the Writing Skills section and all categories are to be used.  Faculty may select any percentage in the appropriate range for each category when awarding points for the final paper grade.

I’m going to attempt to evalutate the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.  This is totally foreign to me and I feel vulnerable trying to answer these questions!  Any help or better insight to this stuff would be much appreciated.

From the perspective of a descriptive critic I would comment on the lack of lines and use of shadowing to create separation.  The colors are very muted throughout the piece with the exception of her skin.  Her skin appears to glow in contrast to her clothes and the background giving the painting a lot of value (if I’m using that term correct)?  Leonardo made her in the shape of an isosceles triangle with her shoulders turned slightly to give her a posed position and not a relaxed position (Jacobus & Martin, 2019).

From the perspective of an interpretive critic I would comment that it is the most famous piece of artwork in the world because of her unknown identity and smile.  “It is thought to be of Lisa Gherardini, wife of a Florentine cloth merchant named Francesco del Giocondo,” (Scailliérez, 2020).  When Leonardo finished the painting, he gave the painting to France.  The emotion responsible for her smile will always be a mystery and speculating on it never gets old.  Leonardo also broke away from outlining images and used the technique sfumato which uses blending, layering, and transitions that are impossible to see (Mona Lisa, n.d.).

From the perspective of an evaluative critic I would comment that the form is fluid throughout the piece.  Nothing sticks out in a bad way, Lisa just glows and her eyes are obviously the focus at first.  Her gaze seems to captivate people and make people curious about her and what she’s thinking.  I would consider that point effective insight.  This piece is obviously inexhaustable, has staying power in my own words, as it is studied in education and visited daily at The Louvre.
