LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Assignment Overview

Most of us are familiar with the role of a manager and that of a leader. We also know
the functions each is expected to perform. However, there is a trend in the UK that
puts managers in a different role. This trend is manager as coach (MAC) and will be
the focus of this assignment. Before beginning the tasks, please read the following
article:

Case Assignment

In a 3-page paper, answer the following questions:

1. What is meant by the term manager as coach (MAC)?

2. Is this role more appropriate for a leader or manager?

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages regarding MAC?

4. How does it fit with the other roles of a manager and leader?

5. Would this be an effective tool in a health care setting as a leader? Why or why
not?

After reviewing Module 6: Lecture Materials & Resources, explain approaches to community intervention and evaluation. Implement a teaching and evaluation plan.

  1. Choose one topic from the prevention strategies and intervention recommendations identified in Module 4 Assignment.
  2. Develop a teaching plan, including objective, content outline, teaching method, and time in a table format found in slide 3 of the Template Download Template.

Choose a patient-care situation in which the RN should intervene and advocate for the patient.  An example of such a situation might be when a patient has not been given complete informed consent.

  • Describe the clinical situation concisely and descriptively. It can be an actual situation or a hypothetical one.
  • Apply the Bioethical Decision Making Model to the specific clinical ethical situation that you choose. Address each section of the model. Conclude with a discussion of nursing advocacy in the clinical setting and the nurse’s role as a patient advocate.
