discussion wk 2

Based on your clinical practice area and location. What are some of the greatest cultural issues and trends that are frequently encountered? How do we as professional nurses rise to these challenges? Provide examples of cultural recognition and potential health-related issues while implementing evidence-based standards of care.

Response

Respond to this discussion using APA format with two scholarly references

An 83-year-old resident of a skilled nursing facility presents to the emergency department with generalized edema of extremities and abdomen. History obtained from staff reveals the patient has history of malabsorption syndrome and difficulty eating due to lack of dentures. The patient has been diagnosed with protein malnutrition.

This patient has a history of malabsorption syndrome, which is the body’s inability to absorb necessary nutrients from an ingested food and will lead to protein, vitamin and electrolyte deficiencies. This may also be the cause of his generalized edema. many factors can lead to the diagnosis of this patient, such as the underlying condition of the patient, age and physicals factors.

Base of this patient age, the malabsorption syndrome can result from a genetical mutation that led to a disease such as atypic cystic fibrosis which is a genetic disease. Here, the patient inherits two defective genes from the DNA of each parent. Usually, the primary result of a genetic disease is the inability to produce a certain enzyme normally, which is a type of protein used to speed up or catalyze chemical reactions necessary for cell function (Pelliccia, J., 2022).  This patient excessive water accumulation is due to his protein malnutrition. Individuals with low protein levels are unable to maintain a normal oncotic pressure; therefore, water is not reabsorbed into the circulation and, instead, causes body edema (McCance & Huether., 2019). Also, Low level of albumen will not help in term of holding salt or water.

This response occurred due to the patient’s lack of protein, starvation, and lack of a denture. Remember that food ingested without having been properly cut or chew will not be digested well. Edema is present due to the lack of protein in the blood. This patient’s albumen levels are expected to be low according to Suryawanshi, Vig, Masih, and Joseph (2018). Endothelial cell is responsible for the physiological response.

CHANGE IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN

It is one of the most cliché of clichés, but it nevertheless rings true: The only constant is change. As a nursing professional, you are no doubt aware that success in the healthcare field requires the ability to adapt to change, as the pace of change in healthcare may be without rival.

As a professional, you will be called upon to share expertise, inform, educate, and advocate. Your efforts in these areas can help lead others through change. In this Assignment, you will propose a change within your organization and present a comprehensive plan to implement the change you propose.

 To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and identify one change that you believe is called for in your organization/workplace.
    • This may be a change necessary to effectively address one or more of the issues you addressed in the Workplace Environment Assessment you submitted in Module 4. It may also be a change in response to something not addressed in your previous efforts. It may be beneficial to discuss your ideas with your organizational leadership and/or colleagues to help identify and vet these ideas.
  • Reflect on how you might implement this change and how you might communicate this change to organizational leadership.

The Assignment (5-6-minute narrated PowerPoint presentation):

Change Implementation and Management Plan

Create a 5- or 6-slide narrated PowerPoint that presents a comprehensive plan to implement changes you propose.

Your narrated presentation should be 5–6 minutes in length.

Your Change Implementation and Management Plan should include the following:

  • An executive summary of the issues that are currently affecting your organization/workplace (This can include the work you completed in your Workplace Environment Assessment previously submitted, if relevant.)
  • A description of the change being proposed
  • Justifications for the change, including why addressing it will have a positive impact on your organization/workplace
  • Details about the type and scope of the proposed change
  • Identification of the stakeholders impacted by the change
  • Identification of a change management team (by title/role)
  • A plan for communicating the change you propose
  • A description of risk mitigation plans you would recommend to address the risks anticipated by the change you propose

Alternate Submission Method

You may also use Kaltura Personal Capture to record your narrated PowerPoint. This option will require you to create your PowerPoint slides first. Then, follow the Personal Capture instructions outlined on the Kaltura Media UploaderLinks to an external site. page. This page will walk you through downloading the tool and help you become familiar with the features of Personal Capture. When you are ready to begin recording, you may turn off the webcam option so that only “Screen” and “Audio” are enabled. Start your recording and then open your PowerPoint to slide show view. Once the recording is complete, follow the instructions found on the “Posting Your Video in the Classroom Guide” found on the Kaltura Media page for instructions on how to submit your video. For this option, in addition to submitting your video, you must also upload your PowerPoint file which must include your speaker notes.

As you learned from the chapter, reading, and video lectures, the cost of health care is a major concern in the US. As we discussed, value-based models promise to bend the cost curve in the right direction. The article you read by Erickson et al (2020) is mostly from the point of view of physicians so it is always a good idea to think critically about articles like this. Do you think that the authors present solid arguments in favor of what they propose? Do you think their point of view is similar to what you read and think about ways to decrease costs while increasing quality? Do you think that their point of view considers other health care-related professions?

Research Critique on Impact of Nursing diversity

write a critique of a research article. (example will be provided)

research article will be provided in pdf format.

research topic is “The Impact of Nursing Diversity in Patient Care on the Medical-Surgical Floor”

Please review previous work done and follow the rubric carefully and write each answer in different paragraphs with titles;

Rubric;

1.      Is the research study relevant to the study of nursing, (be specific   and include examples from the article)?

2.  Is the method/design appropriate in terms of the research question/hypothesis? What was the research question/hypothesis? Was it clearly stated? Refer back to Polit & Beck (2021) (The Method Section). Key elements are discussed, and identification of items should be included. Provide a description of each of these key elements.

3.   What is the theoretical context? See chapter 7 in Polit & Beck. The terms theoretical and conceptual frameworks are used interchangeably. Theories are used to describe, predict, explain, and to control phenomena.   (Theoria is a Greek Word that means beholding or speculation).

“Theoretical frameworks provide the organization for the study. It guides the researcher in the interpretations of the results. the importance of the theory is dependent on the degree of research based evidence and level of its theory development. There are four levels of theory development 1) factor isolating (describe phenomena) 2) Factor relating (explain phenomena), 3) Situation relating (predict

the relationships between/among phenomena), 4) Situation producing (control phenomena and relationships

**If your article does not have a theoretical framework what do you suggest based on Polit & Beck Chapter 7?

4.  Describe the results of the study (identify if they are believable or not)

5.  Are the results significant? In what way-explain use examples?

6.   Are the results transferable? How? Transferability refers to the readers of the research to make connections but invites readers of research to make connections between elements of a study and their own experience. Transferability does not involve broad claims. How does this research apply to YOUR specific practice as a Registered Nurse?

According to Brown (2005), Transferability can be enhanced by providing what is often referred to as thick description (i.e., giving enough detail so the readers can decide for themselves if the results

are transferable to their own contexts).

7.  Implications for nursing practice, be specific how would this study impact nursing practice (use specific examples from the article)?

8.  Implications for future research, be specific and use examples from the article.

9.  The paper shall reflect a scholarly effort; proper grammar, coherence, spelling, and accurately use APA format. Have someone proof read your paper. Read your paper out loud to yourself.

Also check all the attachments.

Module 10 Case study- mREEN

Read the following case study and answer the reflective questions.  Please provide evidence-based rationales for your answers.  APA, 7th ed. must be followed.

FOCUSED SOAP NOTE AND PATIENT CASE PRESENTATION,

Respond at least 2 times each . The goal is for the discussion forum to function as robust clinical conferences on the patients. Provide a response to 1 of the 3 discussion prompts that your colleagues provided in their video presentations. You may also provide additional information, alternative points of view, research to support treatment, or patient education strategies you might use with the relevant patient.

Nursing

Experiential Nursing Learning Planning Proposal
Assignment

 20 points

Overview and Instructions:
Demonstrating the student’s ability to effectively collaborate with nursing leaders and community health nurses for the upcoming public/community health clinical experience, while using leadership skills as a means to prepare for the upcoming NURS 450 experiential nursing learning experiences, the student will submit an experiential learning planning proposal paper by 6-25-23.

During this course (410), you will plan your experiences that will take place during the NURS 450 course. Prior to due date, you will be responsible for contacting a BSN (or higher) preceptor for 24 hours in a public/community health clinical site for your upcoming NURS 450 course. The clinical site must offer community/population-based services, with the primary preceptor being a BSN (or higher) prepared nurse working in a clinical setting providing community or population-based care, while using nurse leadership skills. You will also arrange for 11 additional volunteer hours in a different public/community health setting. Within this module, you will find a list of potential experiential learning (clinical) sites that have been used by previous nursing students. This is not an all-inclusive list but does give the student an idea of previously used sites. Your precepted and/or volunteer experiential nursing learning (clinical) site does not need to be included in this list, as other public/community health sites can be arranged as well.
