You MUST use the Case Study #1 as the base of this SOAP NOTE #1 

Must use the sample template for your soap note, keep this template for when you start clinicals.

Templates used from another classes will not be accepted. Student must use the template provided in this class which must clearly contain the progress note (in the Assessment section) of the encounter with the patient ( this section is clearly mark in bold, highlighted  and underlined). No passing grade will be granted if this section is not completed properly. 

Late Assignment Policy

Assignments turned in late will have 1 point taken off for everyday assignment is late, after 7 days assignment will get grade of 0 (zero). No exceptions

Talking With Patients About Quitting Smoking

Because of the serious detrimental effects of smoking, education about quitting smoking is a priority for nursing interventions when caring for patients who smoke. Major organizations that emphasize the role of nurses in helping patients quit smoking include the American Nurses Association, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. 

You have been charged with developing a Quick Facts Information Sheet on the Risks of E-cigarettes for Kids, Teens, and Young Adults.

You start with the following information below: what else do you believe would be important to include in your one page FLYER.

What Are E-cigarettes?

· E-cigarettes are electronic devices that heat a liquid and produce an aerosol, or mix of small particles in the air.

· E-cigarettes come in many shapes and sizes. Most have a battery, a heating element, and a place to hold a liquid.

· Some e-cigarettes look like regular cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. Some look like USB flash drives, pens, and other everyday items. Larger devices such as tank systems, or “mods,” do not look like other tobacco products.

· E-cigarettes are known by many different names. They are sometimes called “e-cigs,” “e-hookahs,” “mods,” “vape pens,” “vapes,” “tank systems,” and “electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS).”

· Using an e-cigarette is sometimes called “vaping.”

Initial post:Each student will be assigned a number randomly.  Whatever your number is, select the corresponding topic below, then post a minimum of 5 bullet points about the topic.Your bullet points should address key components of the topic, such as what, how, who, & why.  This information should not be basic things you learned in Med/Surg, but rather advanced critical care based. Think about this as a group effort to create a study guide. Use ONLY your textbook, but do not cut & paste from the book.Then create, find, or borrow a test style question about your topic & post at the bottom of your bullet points. The format needs to be multiple choice or select all that apply. Think NCLEX style. Each week include a paragraph with the results from one of your weekly interviews.Discussion post assignments are worth 20 points each as follows:

2. Describe the research approaches to be used to answer each question and why they are appropriate to the evaluation questions posed.
3. Describe in specific detail how data will be collected related to each of your evaluative criteria/indicators. Discuss exactly how the data be collected, when, and by whom. Describe any data collection tools in terms of their development and appropriateness in answering the evaluation questions. Provide information on validity and reliability of tools, if available. Explain why the data collection methods are appropriate to the research approach, type of data, and purpose of the evaluation.
4. Describe how you will analyze the data, including specific statistical tests to be used. Include dummy data tables if applicable to show how you will display your findings.
