discussion 4

Answer the questions below based on the following case study.

A 26-year-old woman presented to the clinic after her cleaning rituals had so exhausted her that she had given up and could now enter only two of the five rooms in her home. For more than a year she has worried that if her house is not sufficiently clean, her 3-year-old son will become ill and could die. Having touched a surface she has to disinfect it repeatedly – a procedure performed in a particular way and taking several hours. In addition, she repetitively washes her hands and sterilizes all the crockery and cutlery before eating. She realizes that she is ‘going over the top’, but she cannot stop thinking that items may have germs on them. This leads to disabling anxiety and fear for her son’s health, which she can only resolve by cleaning. This helps temporarily, but soon the thoughts return again.

  1. Summarize the clinical case.
  2. What is the DSM 5-TR diagnosis based on the information provided in the case?
  3. Which pharmacological treatment would you prescribe according to the clinical guidelines? Include the rationale for this treatment.
  4. Which non-pharmacological treatment would you prescribe according to the clinical guidelines? Include the rationale for this treatment excluding a psychotherapeutic modality.
  5. Include an assessment of the treatment’s appropriateness, cost, effectiveness, safety, and potential for patient adherence to the chosen medication. Use a local pharmacy to research the cost of the medication and provide the most cost-effective choice for the patient. Use great detail when answering questions 3-5.

Picot

Give a 1 Page description of your clinical issue of interest Diabetes Type 1 . This clinical issue will remain the same for the entire course and will be the basis for the development of your PICOT question. Describe your search results in terms of the number of articles returned on original research and how this changed as you added search terms using your Boolean operators. Finally, explain strategies you might make to increase the rigor and effectiveness of a database search on your PICO(T) question. Be specific and provide examples

Critical Care Wk 1

My assigned number was 4 which is: Indications & contraindications for TPA use

Initial post:

Each student will be assigned a number randomly.  Whatever your number is, select the corresponding topic below, then post a minimum of 5 bullet points about the topic.

Your bullet points should address key components of the topic, such as what, how, who, & why.  This information should not be basic things you learned in Med/Surg, but rather advanced critical care based. For example, with Posturing: discuss what causes postering, how do you assess postering, what disease processes cause different types of postering, why is it vital for a critical care nurse to understand the physiology of posturing.

Think about this as a group effort to create a study guide. Use ONLY your textbook, but do not cut & paste from the book.

Then create, find, or borrow a test style question about your topic & post at the bottom of your bullet points. The format needs to be multiple choice or select all that apply. Think NCLEX style.

Each week include a paragraph with the results from one of your weekly interviews.

Discussion post assignments are worth 20 points each as follows:

  • 5 points for the quality of your bullet points.
  • 5 points for the quality of your question.
  • 5 points for answering the question of a peer as your response.
  • 5 points for the quality of your rationale.
    • Quality is defined as thorough and thoughtful while demonstrating professional level knowledge of the topic

blog

Post a response to your Blog in which you describe at least two of the most important needs/challenges/issues in your community or organization. Why are these needs/challenges/issues important? Be specific. Then, recommend at least two practice changes or interventions you would suggest to address these needs/challenges/issues in your community or organization. Be sure to align your role as the DNP-prepared nurse to the competencies identified in the AACN Essentials.

Professor and class,

Collecting, analyzing, interpretating, and presenting data is statistics (Zach, 2022). Understanding your data is key to statistics, not over computing calculations (Holmes et al., 2017). Working on a medical/surgical unit, two different forms of data that I work with are daily blood pressure and temperature checks on my patients to assess their condition and overall health. Temperature checks can alert staff of an indication of infection, and or hypothermia. Blood pressure checks will provide knowledge of hypertension, hypotension, hypervolemia, hypovolemia, and sepsis. The average patient to nurse workload is eight to ten patients per shift. These are both classified as quantitative data related to numerical measurements and values. Blood pressure is usually classified as continuous due to having an infinite number of values within a range with a normal blood pressure of 120/80. Whereas temperatures are discrete due to being measured in finite increments such as tenths of a degree. Temperatures level of measurement is Interval due to being quantitative, can be ordered, meaningful differences between data can be collected and does not have an inherent zero, it is just a position on the scale. Blood pressure is measured on a ratio scale related to the numbers are equal in magnitude and rank on a numerical scale that has an absolute 0. The type of sampling used is cluster due to dividing the population into groups and selecting all the patients in one cluster but not the whole population.

Response #2

PLEASE RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING IN 50 WORDS OR MORE:

3.  Understanding others’ roles provides insight into who can best perform a particular task and how it could be redesigned to be more efficient and effective. How would delegation have a positive effect on staffing?

Delegation affects staffing positively because it increases productivity, effectiveness, and the overall performance of an organization. For instance, delegation enables managers to distribute responsibilities to employees who have the requisite expertise, knowledge, and specialized abilities, which guarantees that the task is carried out by people with the most necessary qualifications, producing superior results (Rubbab et al., 2023). It also enables equitable task distribution within the company, which helps promote a balanced workload by not overworking certain team members while underutilizing others by giving assignments to staff with the necessary skills.

Moreover, when employees work in an environment where tasks are effectively delegated, they get the opportunity for skill improvement and professional advancement. Delegations enable employees to learn and develop new abilities when given new duties, which boosts job satisfaction and motivation (Rubbab et al., 2023). Delegation also increases staff engagement and morale since it gives them a stronger feeling of ownership and pride in their work when they are given more freedom and responsibility, which increases their job satisfaction and loyalty to the company (Rubbab et al., 2023). Besides, when assigning tasks, it is important to communicate expectations, goals, and expected results clearly. Therefore, delegation of tasks encourages improved internal communication and guarantees that everyone is aware of their tasks and duties.

By delegating, managers are able to devote more of their attention to higher-level tasks like strategic planning, decision-making, and problem-solving. This can be especially useful for leaders who can make better use of their time by avoiding mundane duties (Colombo et al., 2021). Delegation also reduces risks by spreading them across the team members who participate in decision-making and task execution. This enables team members who experience challenges when executing different tasks to get assistance and prevent certain setbacks (Colombo et al., 2021).

In summary, delegation positively influences staffing because it maximizes resource allocation, fosters skill development, and raises employee engagement. It also improves the overall performance of an organization since it enables better use of personnel skills, which eventually leads to long-term success.

Discussion Post

What do you think nursing contributes to health care? How can a robotic system incorporate the clinical judgment that nurses use? Be as creative as you wish!

If you can, listen to the following audio clip from National Nurses United’s “Insist on a Registered Nurse” campaign:

While this is an attempt at humor about a serious situation, it drives a fundamental question: What would health care be without nurses?
