Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate the skills of the professional nurse as an educator. You are to prepare a patient scenario based on the 
required assigned topic (Diabetes). You will choose 
an already-developed and reliable mHealth app to educate your patient.

Preparing the Assignment

Health Behaviors for the focus of your assignment through the Healthy People 2030 link below:

Note:  It is crucial to choose your Health Condition or Health Behavior first, then develop a short but detailed patient scenario (See the video tutorial, assignment directions, and rubric for details about the scenario.) Then, explore a mobile health app (mHealth app) that fits the patient and the topic.

Requirements and Guidelines

·
Write your own patient scenario using the 
Required Assignment Topic.

· Make sure to include a 
Healthy People 2030 Health Condition or 
Health Behavior in the scenario for a patient who desires to maintain or achieve good health and prevent illness and who could benefit from 
an already developed and reliable mHealth app from the internet.

· Choose a 
scholarly peer-reviewed journal article published within the last 5 years and related to your scenario's health condition or health behavior. This required article citation MUST appear in the 
Patient Scenario section of the paper and support your chosen health topic. You may use other citations/references in your paper; however, these would be optional. The Chamberlain Library is your best place to obtain this article. Cite this in APA 7th edition format in this section of the assignment.

·
Describe in detail the plan for teaching this patient in the scenario.

· Include the nurse's assessment of learning needs and readiness to learn.

·
Identify a mHealth app that could benefit the patient, considering the teaching/learning needs you identified.

· Tips for your internet search for an appropriate mHealth app:

· The iPhone App Store and Google Marketplace let you search for apps based on keywords such as “health” or more specific topics such as “weight loss,” “stress,” and “diabetes.” Look through the descriptions of apps that come up in your results. Does the app address the health concern you have identified? Does it do what you’re looking for with this specific patient? For example, if you’re interested in having your patient track their sleep habits, does the app do this? Please reach out to your instructor if you have questions about a particular mHealth app for this assignment.

· Describe the app, including the mHealth app name, purpose, intended audience, mobile device(s) upon which it will operate, and where to download or obtain it. Add any other information you believe would be pertinent to this situation.

· Include a working link if it is to be downloaded from a website in the area indicated on the template.   

· Make sure to add a citation for this mHealth app in APA format.  The directions and examples of how to cite a mobile app are located on page 340 of the APA Manual, 7th edition.

List your 2 references.  One will be the mHealth app reference, and the other will be your scholarly article reference.

 

Case Study 3 & 4 (10 Points) 

Students much review the case study and answer all questions with a scholarly response using APA and include 2 scholarly references. Answer both case studies on the same document and upload 1 document to Moodle.

Case Studies will be uploaded to Moodle and put through TURN-It-In (anti-Plagiarism program)

Turn it in Score must be less than 25 % or will not be accepted for credit, must be your own work and in your own words. You can resubmit, Final submission will be accepted if less than 25 %. Copy-paste from websites or textbooks will not be accepted or tolerated. Please see College Handbook with reference to Academic Misconduct Statement.

Each student will be assigned a number randomly.  Whatever your number is, select the corresponding topic below, then post a minimum of 5 bullet points about the topic.
 

Your bullet points should address key components of the topic, such as what, how, who, & why.  This information should not be basic things you learned in Med/Surg, but rather advanced critical care based.
 

Think about this as a group effort to create a study guide. Use ONLY your textbook, but do not cut & paste from the book.
 

Then create, find, or borrow a test style question about your topic & post at the bottom of your bullet points. The format needs to be multiple choice or select all that apply. Think NCLEX style.
 

PART 2:

 

Part 2:

You will take a few minutes and ask 2 people about their personal coping mechanisms for dealing with the stress of working in healthcare during this unique time of Covid. Stress can be physical, emotional, spiritual, or any combination of triggers. Ask a diverse variety of people, don’t forget those in other departments at different points of hierarchy. For example, ask your unit manager, environmental services, volunteers, patients, fellow nurses, etc. Write 2-3 paragraphs on your findings and impressions while respecting the person’s identity.

Respond to two (2) of the following prompts:

1. Describe formal and informal education. From your experiences with schooling, provide specific examples of each and explain how they are built into the curriculum or culture of the school. (USLO 6.1)
2. Reflecting on your own experience (or your child’s) with schooling, explain one sociological theory that best relates to your (or your child’s) academic journey. Describe two examples of how this theory applies to your schooling. (USLO 6.4)
3. What do you think is the most significant concern with the education system today? Provide a suggestion for how this issue could be improved. (USLO 6.3)
4. What is the difference between mainstreaming and inclusion? Which do you think is the optimal way to include people with disabilities in the classroom and why? (USLO 6.2)
5. Karl Marx studied the social impact of religion and believed religion reflects the material base, which is comprised of the means and modes of production and the relations of production. Marx argued that religion maintains inequality and perpetuates the status quo. Is Marx’s argument that religion maintains inequality and perpetuates the status quo true? Present an example that supports your assessment of Marx’s argument. (USLO 6.8)
6. Emile Durkheim argued that religion promotes social cohesion, and social control, as well as offering meaning and purpose to human life. Is Durkheim’s argument true? Present an example that supports your assessment of Durkheim’s argument. (USLO 6.8)
7. What is required of a society for its political structure to be considered democratic? While this question might seem straightforward, it is not and is a topic of contentious debate in current political philosophy circles. The Democracy Index lists 60 different indicators that must be considered when discerning whether a nation is a democracy. While you in no way will be expected to discuss all indicators, please talk about a few of the conditions that must exist for a government to qualify as a democracy. Include textual evidence to support your view. (USLO 6.5, 6.6)
8. In recent years in the United States, citizens have increasingly made claims that our judicial system is institutionally racist. Evidence provided for these claims has pointed toward unfair drug sentencing laws, stop and frisk policies, the use of police force, and the overwhelming number of black men in prisons and jails in comparison to the rest of the population. Select one claim and discuss whether these claims have merit, presenting specific examples to support your position. Include textual evidence to support your view. (USLO 6.7)
